the super mario franchise, also known simply as the mario franchise, is a media franchise chiefly consisting of video games published and produced by the japanese company nintendo. it centers around the fictional character mario, an italian plumber who serves as the hero of a realm called the mushroom kingdom. or better known as the best fucking frachise of ALL TIME but now seriously, it's one of my favorite pieces of media for long as i can remember; its games, music and characters mean a lot to me.
i used to be OBSESSED when i was a kid since i got my DS (i miss my DS goddammit). i remember that my first introduction to the franchise was the mario & luigi rpg games, specifically bowser's inside story. i also could spend hours and hours watching playthroughs on youTube of other games like mario sunshine or the thousand-year door.
mario & Luigi is a series of role-playing video games developed by alphadream for nintendo's handheld platforms since 2003. the series features games with long, detailed stories full of battles featuring mario and luigi as the titular characters.
IT WAS OBVIOUSLY GOING TO BE THE FISRT ONE ON THIS THING but honestly i dont care and also i dont care at all if some people think its overrated this game its PEAK. i played it when i was like 9 years old and oh my GOD it literally blew my mind. i fell in love, from the fucking music to the unique and goofy characterization of Bowser and its villain, Fawful, to me it's the best one in the entire series and franchise. the pixel art looks BEAUTIFUL and (obviously) more polished than the previous games. i find the locations of bowser's body so creative, fun and interesting, and i also love how colorful everything looks... pure eye-candy!
and the soundtrack, oh my god the fucking soundtrack its so soooo good for literally no reason and i love that. i could literally spend hours talking about how much i love the theme of the final boss: "the grand finale". a BANGER. yoko shimomura didnt had to go THAT hard with this one. another thing i like about this game is the writting, it just adds so much depth to the characters. the split between the brothers and bowser keeps the game fresh, and has a lot more space to incorporate new ideas and gives bowser a excellent and hilarious focus. the story itself and pacing are really good too.
"-You're saying the kingdom will vanish? NOT TODAY! THIS KINGDOM IS ALL MINE! SO YOU VANISH!"
this little fucker... hes so MUCH fun oh my god, no matter how many times i replay the game, im never going to get tired of him. his character development, his humor, goals, EVERYTHING, and the way his arc crossed through the different games its pretty cool. he is calculative, manipulative, he relies on his intellect... hes so unhinged and hilarious; such a memorable and iconic character! I HAVE FURY!
my second favorite one! even though i've been trying to finish it for almost 3 years BECAUSE I KEEP LOSING MY SAVE FILES STUPIDLY OVER AND OVER AGAIN FOR SOME REASON GRAHHHHHHH but anyways. an excellently short, silly and sweet adventure, and a very good start for the series. everything about the game is so fun; the art style, the puzzles, setting, characters, and the way they made turn based combat actually active. one of my favorite things about this game are the little details like the passport photos. honestly i think its one of the most creative things they've done.
luigi focus game? 10/10 instantly good thats it. jokes aside, its not the best of the series, but neither the worst and it still an excellent game. this game really shines for the music (absolute god-tier) and the mystic atmosphere; the dream sections are really cool. the story its okay but the pacing isnt very well done. but despite of it mistakes, i forgive them just because the way they place greater importance to luigi. luigi wielding wacky, yet godly powers in the dream world was such a really fun and interesing concept and i love it. yeah it has it problems, but is extremely underrated and didnt deserve some of the hate it got. is also the only game who has this scene of luigi happily laughing while hugging mario on the dream world, so shits peak.
the paper mario series is a role-playing and action-adventure spinoff series of the super mario franchise, developed for nintendo by affiliate company intelligent systems. the series is named after its distinctive visual style, which consists of 2D paper cutout characters in 3D papercraft environments.
guys we did it im finally going to talk about PEAK. this game is a perfect sequel. a great story and atmosphere that make you feel like youre in a storybook, charming writing, dialogue and characters, more beautiful, crazy and inspired places for mario to explore, a very engaging and unique combat system and awesome battle mechanics... this game means EVERYTHING to me. 64 was great, but the thousand year-door once it appeared, it officially stamp the paper mario series as whole. the thousand-year door does just about everything you'd want a sequel to do, and i love it for that. theres a part of me that prefers the simplicity of the first game, but both games have a place on my heart and are easily my favorite games of all time. also its the only game with vivian, so automatically its better.
it sure was a big change from thousand-year door and the original; and i like to think about this game as its own thing apart. its an pretty cool game with solid enough writing. the environment and music were sooo alluring. i really liked these unique pixel elements like the large square trees and the deigns of the pixls themselves. the mix between 2D and 3D its really interesing. like most mario rpgs, the soundtrack slaps. isnt the best one, but its still pretty good. it was definitely shift in a more serious, at times dark tone but still it found moments to be humorous... it may has its moments im not so fond of, but overall the experience is so fun. i adore how insane the game can be at times LOL. i also enjoyed a lot luigi's arc! it was pretty cool.
super mario sunshine is a 3D action-adventure platform game for the nintendo gamecube. it is the second game in the super mario franchise to feature extensive voice acting, the first being hotel mario, making it the first and thus far the only 3D super mario game with said extensive voice acting.
yall were so mean with this one. i LOVE the atmosphere, the ideas, the music, the graphics in general, colors, aesthetic, and its mostly so fun! for me, is such an iconic game, it was so refreshing. it has so much charm and identity, isle delfino feels like a real place that people live in, and the game has tons of unique enemies and designs that i haven't been seen elsewhere.
the voice acting... is kinda silly, even cringey at times im not gonna lie, but its one of those little details that make the game feel so special. the creation of FLUDD was honestly genius, and the story, despite of being simple and goofy, was creative. its just charming as all fuck, and carry a lot nostalgia for me. also, the addition of bowser jr to the game as antagonist was great.
i know its a heavily flawed game with frustrating levels and janky physics, i cannot help but love it to absolute death, sorry!
super mario world is a 2D action-adventure platform game and a launch title released for the super nintendo entertainment system in 1990, developed by nintendo ead. it is the sixth entry in the super mario series and a direct sequel to super mario bros 3.
introduced in super mario world is marios sidekick, yoshi (and his species that shares his name), who serves as a playable mount with his own unique abilities and gameplay style.
this game is simply incredible. its kinda simple, but yet amazing on every aspect. its colorful graphics and music brings me so much happiness, nostalgia, comfort and warm feelings... such a magical experience. easily my favorite game of all time and probably the most important on my life. it's definitely got a timeless and iconic art style.
the luigi's mansion series is a series of action-adventure video games with a few light horror elements. it spans over three different systems and consists of three different games. it is a spin-off from the super mario series.
luigi focus game=instantly good. i genuinely love luigi's mansion... the atmosphere, the spookyness, and the gameplay makes it a perfect gem for me. honestly, is a beautiful game that nailed it perfectly the setting. its dark and unsettling and it gave luigi an entirely new identity and personality; luigi himself is so detailed, so cartoony and lovingly animated to give him so much unique character he previously didnt really have, and the mansion itself is also eerie.
i love how lighting and shadows are used in the game, its so cool. and oh my god, those little details that i appreciate like luigi humming the songs make you feel like you really are on this old and mysterious place, the soundtrack its a plus and adds even more to that feeling, and i absolute love it. overall, this game has so much personality and charm its unreal.
the second and third games are... good aswell, but they dont hit same as hard like this one does. i actually really like the third game, but it feels a little soul-less. i dont like a lot how they get rid of that unique spookyness but still its a pretty solid game, and the character interactions and cutscenes are everything to me, so so cute.
essentially internet horror stories or a myth passed around other sites, to frighten readers and viewers. the word, "creepypasta" comes from the term, "copypasta".
being a 9 year old with unrestricted internet access, i ended growing up together with several creepypastas that made me appreciate the horror genre a little more over the years, specially early internet horror; and ironically i ended up finding comfort in it.
as a big horror nerd, i wanted to add this little section to collect a few mario creepypastas that i like, and its actually kinda personal and special to me. lately my interest in this topic has grown more and more to the point of becoming a hyperfixation, so basically this space is more than anything to talk non-stop about bad-written horror stories about this silly game.
MARIO is a ROM hack pasta of super mario world created by the smw central user "M A R I O" that was uploaded to the site in 2010. it was removed shortly, but then was eventually re-added to the site on 2014.
honestly i actually really like how it was made... it just feels so empty and is very strange. the rom hack and it eerie feeling of uncomfortable emptiness and that something isnt just right along with it crypted messages are very chilling. part of the hack's story is also a plus.
hinted at by the message at yoshis house and the "victim #1" apparent autopsy in the cutscene after beating iggy's castle, would have involved tracking a serial killer. the notepad file included with the hack contains more coded text, which decodes into the infamous picture of victim #1.
the way all of it was made by some teenager from scratch its actually really impressive LOL. crazy stuff.
"there's no way out of here. fly away."
okay guys first of all. i know I KNOW this is a fucking trollpasta but i cant just help it, the concept its so fucking stupid, cringey but yet- interesing in some way to me that i absolute love it. the way how it was written to make fun of other pastas by overusing tropes, but ended up being more high-quality and popular than the author expected its HILARIOUS. i just love when shit like this happens. i also cant believe that despite of everything, the ROM hack has more effort behind it than it should. i mean, IT DIDNT NEED TO HAVE a fucking whole-ass, actually well done boss fight lmao.
but now the real reason i wanted to talk about it: a few days ago came out a new, intriguing and pretty good re-take of the creepypasta: ignited hatred, by vibingleaf. its been going around in my head lately and i need to spit out what i think about it.
im so in love with it. all these tiny details like the mario corpses in the background, or the addition of a whole second phase with luigi in the koopa clown car; its a brilliant nice touch, it makes more sense and makes it feel more like a mario boss fight.
i think the voice acting is kinda silly and unnecessary but it carries over some of the personality of the original pasta in that sense. still, it is on point. the music its phenomenal. i love the way it genuinely sounds like a mario track, and the second phase theme at least for me its kind of heart-wrenching. you can really feel the betrayal, desperation, sadness and pain. it goes so hard. also, i have a soft spot for the smw soundfont.
'the (referred to internally as coronation day) is a bone chilling horror-themed mod of super mario world with a vague story. it was released on smw central on 2016.
this is a really underrated ROM hack. its unnerving; the atmosphere that this hack gives is very well achieved. it is presented in an unsettling way thanks to the music and glitches, enveloping you in a pleasant way.
the story, despite being actually really vage and cryptic like i said, leaves you with more and more questions. what did just happened? what is this? again? why is mario here again? what does that mean?...
its confusing and not entirely clear what the hell its going on, and i like it for that. the game gives you a desire for answers, wanting to know more, to go deeper. the puzzles, messages, and clues hidden in the game itself are very well done, too.
its just amazing what can be done with smw's engine, and its really impressive to it be a mario hack. overral a great, unique and enigmatic rom hack. it deserves way more attention.
FOR HE IS KING.
...again?
